Harper is a small town in south-central Kansas. The town has a population of 1,400 people and was founded in 1877, and named after Joseph Harper, an early settler of the area. At the time, Harper played an important stop for the railway and cattle companies in Texas. Harper is now known for its rich agriculture with its vast prairies and farmland. The town’s industrial business success has also led the community in growth and development. There is a lot of opportunity in Harper for businesses to grow and for more to enter and succeed.
The town hosts many festivals that the residents and visitors look forward to each year. One of the biggest events is the Harper County Fair, where participants from all over the county bring their projects, livestock, art, or food, and compete. Many kids and adults love to get involved and cheer on the whole county. Once you're done looking at all the projects, you are able to end the night at the Carnival, listening to live music, or trying one of the many food vendor options. Whether you are a long time resident or just a visitor, Harper has something for everyone to enjoy.
