The facility underwent a $5.9 million overhaul that was officially completed in May 2026, representing the most significant investment in the track’s history. The improvements reflect the City of Great Bend’s commitment to enhancing recreational opportunities, attracting visitors, supporting economic growth, and providing quality-of-life amenities for the community.

Recognized as the birthplace of organized drag racing, SRCA Dragstrip has a distinguished racing legacy dating back to 1955, when it hosted some of the sport’s earliest championship events. Today, the revitalized facility continues that tradition while further establishing Great Bend as a destination for motor sports, tourism, recreation, and community events.
